1. About this Policy

1.1 Who we are. MyChoice is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (UEN / registration number: [REGISTRATION NUMBER]), whose address is [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("we", "us", "our").

1.2 What this Policy covers. This Cookie Policy (the "Policy") explains which cookies and similar technologies the Service uses (our websites and applications and the product editions MyAPT and MyEscape), why we use them, and how you can control them. It applies together with our Privacy Policy at https://my-choice.io/privacy (the "Privacy Policy"), which explains how we handle personal data, and with our Terms of Service. Words that start with a capital letter have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.

1.3 Laws that apply. We follow the rules on cookies and similar technologies that apply to you, including the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore, the ePrivacy rules of the European Union and its Member States, the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and the laws of other places where we offer the Service, such as Quebec and Brazil.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

2.1 Cookies. A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. It lets the website recognise your device, for example to keep you signed in.

2.2 Similar technologies. Other technologies do the same job. The one that matters here is local storage, a space in your browser where a website can keep small pieces of information. In this Policy, "cookies" means cookies and these similar technologies.

2.3 First-party and third-party. A first-party cookie is set by us. A third-party technology is set or read by another company that provides a feature to us.

3. What we use

3.1 Essential cookies. These are needed to provide the Service you ask for, or to remember your cookie choices. They are always on. We do not need your consent for them, and we do not use them for advertising or analytics.

NameTypePurposeDuration
sessionFirst-party cookie, not readable by scriptsKeeps you signed in and protects your account and the Service against abuse30 days

mc_consentFirst-party cookieRemembers your cookie choices: an identifier for your choice, the choices themselves, the date, the version of this notice and how you made the choice180 days

3.2 Optional cookies. These are not needed to provide the Service. We use them only as described in Section 4.

WhatTypeProviderPurposeDuration
Map usage statisticsLocal storage keys starting with mapbox.eventData, and measurement requests to events.mapbox.comMapboxA random identifier and measurements about how the map loads and is used, which Mapbox uses to produce aggregate usage statisticsLocal storage lasts until you clear your browser data. We delete it when you refuse or withdraw

The map itself (map tiles, styles, address search and routes) is part of the Service and does not depend on this choice. If you refuse, no feature is removed.

3.3 What we do not use. We do not use advertising cookies, social media plug-ins or tracking pixels, analytics cookies, browser fingerprinting or tracking across other websites. We measure audience and performance in aggregate with Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which set no cookies and store nothing on your device (see the Privacy Policy). If we add an optional technology, we will update this Policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your choice first.

3.4 Other websites and tools.

  • If you choose "Sign in with Google", you are sent to Google. Google sets its own cookies on its own website, under its own policies. We do not set them. On our side, only the short-lived google_oauth_state cookie in Section 3.1 is used.
  • Links to listing websites take you to other sites that have their own cookie policies.
  • The "Save to MyChoice" browser extension uses your MyChoice sign-in to save the page you choose. The Privacy Policy explains how the extension works.

4. How we ask for your choice

4.1 Where you are matters. The rules on cookies are not the same everywhere. When you visit, we estimate your country (and, for Canada, your province) from your connection, using information supplied by our hosting provider. We do not store your IP address for this purpose. If we cannot tell where you are, we apply the stricter approach in Section 4.2.

4.2 Where we ask first. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Quebec, Brazil, or any other place where the law requires consent or where we have not confirmed that a lighter approach is allowed, optional cookies are off until you accept them. In that case:

  • "Accept all" and "Reject all" are equally easy to use.
  • Nothing optional is set before you choose. Browsing, scrolling or closing the notice is not consent.
  • If you refuse, you can use the whole Service.

4.3 Where we give notice and a choice. In Singapore, Australia, Japan, the United States, South Africa and the rest of Canada, we tell you what we use. Optional cookies are on, and you can switch them off at any time. If you do, we stop and delete what we can.

4.4 How long your choice lasts. We remember your choice for 180 days. After that, or sooner if we change what we use, we ask again.

4.5 Record of your choice. To show that we respected your choice, we keep a record of it: a random identifier, your choices, the date, the version of this notice, how you made the choice (banner, settings or browser signal), and your country. The record does not contain your IP address or your email address. We keep it for up to 24 months. The Privacy Policy gives the details.

5. Changing your mind

5.1 Cookie settings. Choose "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page to see your choices and change them. Withdrawing is as easy as accepting.

5.2 Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of all optional cookies, whatever country you are in, and we do not show you the banner.

5.3 Your browser. You can also block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, you will not be able to sign in.

5.4 Effect of withdrawing. Withdrawing your choice does not affect what happened before you withdrew it.

6. Third parties and transfers

The optional map statistics are collected by Mapbox, which handles them under its own privacy policy. Mapbox may process data outside Singapore and your country. The Privacy Policy lists our providers (Section 5) and explains international transfers (Section 8).

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy, for example when we add or remove a cookie or when the law changes. The version number and effective date are shown at the top. For material changes we will give you at least 14 days' notice, by email or inside the Service, before they take effect. If we add an optional cookie, we will ask for your choice again where the law requires it.

8. Contact

For questions about this Policy, write to [LEGAL EMAIL]. For your rights over personal data and how to complain to a regulator, see Sections 11 and 16 of the Privacy Policy.

8.1 Language. This Policy is available in English and in French. If the two versions differ, the English version prevails, except where mandatory law requires that the version in your language prevails.
